The Moondoggies are back with a definitively Rock album! A Love Sleeps Deep was shaped by all the changes the Moondoggies have experienced over the past five years, since the release of Adios I'm a Ghost. While the Washington band initially gravitated towards the Woodsy Folk-rock/Americana movement that emerged in the Pacific Northwest in the 2000s, the Moondoggies' sound has nevertheless always been Rock, in the classic sense of the term - more Pink Floyd than Woody Guthrie. A Love Sleeps Deep crystallizes this Rock spirit.
Perhaps more importantly, it introduces us to a Kevin Murphy (singer/guitarist) who has blossomed as a songwriter. No longer needing to prove himself, he opens up and reveals himself. Recorded in Seattle in spring 2017 with production wizard Erik Blood (Shabazz Palaces, Tacocat, THEESatisfaction), 'A Love Sleeps Deep' is also a collaborative album. The band tested each track, ensuring that everyone could contribute something. From about thirty initial demos, Blood also helped select the strongest tracks.
