"When everyone left NYC, the sewer opened up and we crawled out." Brooklyn's prolific institution TheMen return with their ninth studio album, "New York City". This new offering, which follows 2020's "Mercy", will be released on February 3, 2023 on the band's new label, Fuzz Club Records. Here, nocturnal proto-punk meets timeless, fire-and-brimstone rock'n'roll. The album leans towards a more primitive, more basic sound. The final result is a series of live-played tracks recorded on 2-inch tape at Travis Harrison's (Guided By Voices, Built To Spill) studio in Brooklyn. "New York City" is a record that doesn't stop moving for a second, filled with the kind of energy that can only truly be captured in a live setting. "These songs became the blood of the band, because the band could only exist for and by these songs. Without this record, the band wouldn't exist, so there was no other option. NYC is fluid. It means many different things to all kinds of people. It is with this in mind that we present this record."
