The suite from \"Die Frau ohne Schatten\" will also be a collection of atmospheres freed from any narrative concern, but which amplifies Strauss's mysterious orchestra, particularly the grand scene in Act III at the Temple. Admirable in itself, like one would admire a painting for its aesthetics and mystery at the same time. Conversely, a whole theater appears in the \"Alpine Symphony,\" where natural elements are described with meticulous precision (didn't Strauss profess that a good orchestrator could describe a toothbrush?), but where above all we see the hiker, the edelweiss, the stag in distress, and the lightning that gilds the snow at the summit. The pieces of this tragicomedy fall into place with perfect logic; one observes everything while hearing everything, but Jurowski sets aside the philosophical aspect of a score that is essentially the reverse of \"Thus Spoke Zarathustra.\" A minor flaw that, in any case, is hardly mentioned in the face of such perfection (Discophilia - Artalinna.com).
