Clutching Stems

Description

In over 16 years and with three remarkable albums, The Ladybug Transistor has cemented its reputation as a creator of opulent and formal pop music. Formed in the mid-90s around Gary Olson, the band released their first album, "Marlborough Farms," in 1995. Shortly after the release of "Can't Wait Another Day" in 2007, the band faced the death of their drummer, casting doubt on their musical future. Eventually, the band recruited Mark Dzula, Eric Farber, and Michael O'Neill and, with the memory of Fadyl deeply etched in their hearts, began writing a new album. The result is "Clutching Stems," a stunning collection of powerful choruses and touching ballads. Olsen is at his best: his lyrics enchant, as they search for words where no sound can be uttered. Here, he tells stories of heartache, desire, triumph over resentment, lingering regret, and growth, all with arrangements featuring Frida Eklund in the background.
