British indie-rock favorites The Kooks return with Never/Know, their most accomplished album to date, expected on May 9. After 18 years of career, the band has chosen to reinvent themselves by returning to the very essence of their music. Hugh Harris describes this approach as "a shared vision aimed at bringing joy and love through well-written and well-performed pop." To recapture the energy of their early days, Luke Pritchard kept the recording secret, leading the musicians to believe they were only making demos. This approach allowed for total spontaneity and a return to their best form. As Pritchard sums it up: "We found our confidence again by letting things be, without seeking perfection."
