A rock press sensation that can be easily shaken up, since the release of "Keep On Your Mean Side," the duo The Kills could have settled for releasing a second album of the same kind for everyone to get lost in and thus find themselves again. The pair decided otherwise and took it to a whole new level, restoring the original meaning of the new wave style. Undoubtedly traumatized by the best that pop and rock have concocted since the early 70s, Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince have infused their wine with not always pleasant ink and decided to unleash the hell of those drum machines that are now so characteristic of their sound. Dark and distorted, "Now Wow" contorts itself between the fantasized memories of a post-punk era that, in its time, sought to overshadow disco by strangling it. "I Hate The One You Love," "Rodeo Town," and "The Good Ones," released as a lead single, attempt to bring together flashbacks with heavy doses of cut-and-paste (lyrics heavily influenced by Burroughs), evocative of the best of the future.
