It took five years for Ash \u0026amp; Ice to succeed Blood Pressures, a delay mainly due to the five hand surgeries that Jamie Hince underwent, which forced him to relearn how to play guitar with a permanently damaged finger. Unlike previous albums, which were mostly written and recorded at Key Club Studio in Benton Harbor, Michigan, the recording of Ash \u0026amp; Ice mainly took place in a rented house in Los Angeles and then at the famous Electric Lady Studio in NYC.
