Signed by Creation Records in late 1986, THE HOUSE OF LOVE would become one of the most popular and critically acclaimed bands to sign with the label. Their self-titled debut album was cited as one of the best albums of 1988 by music magazines and indie music fans. To promote the band in Germany in 1987, Creation partnered with Rough Trade Distribution to release this compilation of The House Of Love's first two singles, "Shine On" and "Real Animal," along with B-sides and an exclusive track. What is quite confusing is that this compilation also bore its own name! Never reissued on vinyl, it now comes with an additional B-side, "The Hill." 50 COPIES FRANCE The cover photo featured the original five-member lineup: singer-songwriter Guy Chadwick, guitarist Terry Bickers, bassist Chris Groothuizen, drummer Pete Evans, and third guitarist Andrea Heukamp, who had left the band by the time of their debut album's release.
