Enter: The Conquering Chicken - Vinyle Transparent
Description
Enter: The Conquering Chicken is The Gits' second and final studio album. Its creation was tragically cut short by the murder of the band's singer, songwriter, and central figure, Mia Zapata, in Seattle, just weeks after recording in the summer of 1993. Produced by the band and their long-time friend Scott Benson, the album was released posthumously on C/Z Records in 1994. Formed in 1986 at Antioch College in Ohio, The Gits had moved to Seattle in 1989, just as the local scene was gaining global attention. Their raw, blues-tinged punk, driven by Mia's unforgettable voice, stood out from other bands in the region while quickly finding a loyal audience. Enter: The Conquering Chicken captures the band at their peak, at the end of an intense West Coast tour, creative, inspired, and carried by the momentum of a new musical chapter. Remastered in 2024 by Jack Endino for Sub Pop Records, this long-unavailable album is now offered on colored vinyl, with new artwork and liner notes by Tim Sommer. Tracks like Sign of the Crab, Bob (Cousin O.), and the masterful cover of Sam Cooke's A Change is Gonna Come, bear witness to the band's evolution and offer a glimpse of what Mia and The Gits could have achieved. This definitive edition celebrates their legacy and Mia Zapata's unique energy. Transparent vinyl edition.
