American neo-psychedelia godfathers The Flaming Lips are releasing their new album, American Head. It features thirteen cinematic tracks, produced by their long-time collaborator Dave Fridmann and the band members themselves. The album boasts some great collaborations: on 'God and the Policeman' in particular, we find country superstar Kacey Musgraves. As evidenced by the album's first single 'Flowers Of Neptune 6', American Head takes a turn that harks back to the golden age of their discography, especially their 1999 masterpiece The Soft Bulletin. American Head might just be their most beautiful and cohesive work to date.
