The British band's new pop-folk album promises to be the soundtrack to spring. From the same wavy and transgressive neo-folk wave as Fleet Foxes, Grizzly Bear, and Bon Iver, THE LEISURE SOCIETY finally releases its fourth album, The Fine Art Of Hanging On. During the writing period, Nick Hemming, the band's singer-songwriter, was with a close friend battling cancer. He allowed him to participate in the project by sharing ideas and considering his feedback on the demos. The two forged a very close bond. Throughout the album, recurring themes such as romantic and friendly relationships are found. More generally, it explicitly addresses the issues of life and death. Initially, it was not an intentional album. And yet the harmony it exudes is omnipresent. With this fourth album, THE LEISURE SOCIETY probably entrusts us with their best music in terms of cohesion. Once again, they haven't overlooked the album cover, which young Owen Davey, a long-time collaborator, designed for them. Like the cover, the eleven tracks of "The Fine Art Of Hanging On" immerse us weightlessly in the incredible universe of THE LEISURE SOCIETY.
