{"product_id":"the-dead-south_sugar-and-joy_2019","title":"Sugar And Joy","description":"The Dead South is a Canadian folk-bluegrass band from Regina, Saskatchewan, that tackles themes such as murder and marital separation in an acoustic yet aggressive setup featuring banjo, mandolin, cello, and guitar, along with whistling, shouting, and finger snapping. The idea of a \"rock'n'stomp bluegrass\" band came to Nate and Danny in 2012; the two had played together in an alternative grunge band for a short time in high school. Nate listened to Trampled By Turtles, Old Crow Medicine Show, and old bluegrass bands, and the two musicians wanted to bring their own version to the genre. It was also during this time that Nate started singing. They wrote a few songs and tested them at open mics. Shortly after, Colton, who loved metal, and Scott, more in line with singer-songwriters, joined the band. Colton learned the banjo, and Scott switched from guitar to mandolin. They produced their own bluegrass because they didn't really know which direction to take other than wanting it to be fun, a bit ironic while maintaining serious musicianship. Sugar \u0026 Joy was recorded at Muscle Shoals Studios in Alabama and produced by Grammy Award winner Jimmy Nutt, known for his collaboration with the Steeldrivers. On this latest album, The Dead South continues to push the boundaries of the genre with an intoxicating blend of tradition and irreverent twists!","brand":"The Dead South","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":58239974506840,"sku":null,"price":20191001.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/0836766002930.jpg?v=1787438168","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/the-dead-south_sugar-and-joy_2019","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
