The eponymous debut album from English band The Cool Greenhouse, formidable heirs to Sprechgesang (a typically English reciting style, halfway between spoken declamation and singing) that obviously reminds us of certain masters of the genre such as Mark E. Smith of The Fall or Jason Williamson of Sleaford Mods, to name but a few. Nevertheless, The Cool Greenhouse have a modern and refreshing style, characterised by a stripped-down sound punctuated by incessant corrosive riffs and the punk, nonchalant, and ironic attitude of frontman Tom Greenhouse. A brilliant critique of the capitalist model (among other things) and a promising album that gives us high hopes for The Cool Greenhouse!
