The Church is an Australian rock band, originally from Sydney. It was formed in 1980 with Steve Kilbey on vocals and bass, guitarists Peter Koppes and Marty Willson-Piper, and drummer Nick Ward. Associated with new wave and neo-psychedelia in the early 1980s, the band explores various styles of rock music and eventually moves closer to progressive rock with long instrumental tracks and complex interaction in the guitar playing.
