The Chambers Brothers are four brothers who got their start in church choirs and on the gospel and folk scene in Southern California. Their career truly took off in the mid-1960s when they began performing in New York and landed their only hit in 1968, "Time Has Come Today." This 11-minute track spent five consecutive weeks at number 11 (yes, really!) on the Billboard Hot 100 and highlighted the brothers' innovative spirit: the group blended the traditions of American blues and gospel with the psychedelic, effects-laden sounds of the then-popular psychedelic rock.
