Simple and funky: BNH, the energy of live music! Do we still need to introduce The Brand New Heavies (BNH to their fans!)? This British group, formed in 1985 under the aegis of Jan Kincaid, brings together the talented Simon Bartholomew on guitar and Andrew Levy on bass. The band made a splash with their first album, "The Brand New Heavies," originally released in 1990 on Eddie Piller's label, Acid Jazz Records. This album was re-released the following year with rearrangements and a reinterpretation of the first album, introducing the brilliant singer N'Dea Davenport. In 1992, the group invited a number of American hip-hop stars (Gang Starr, Kool G Rap, The Pharcyde...) on their album "Heavy Rhyme Experience Vol. 1," and "Brother Sister" in 1994 cemented their place among the combo's best albums. In short, during the first part of the 90s, BNH was one of the leading figures of the acid jazz movement, both popular and high-quality! Ah, the good old days of "Dream On Dreamer...!" This album, recorded live in Japan in 1992, is an excellent audio testament to the band's beginnings and includes all their hits: "Never Stop," "Dream Come True," "Stay This Way," and "Don't Let It Go To Your Head."
