The garage-punk band from New York is back with their new EP.
Iggy Pop, Debbie Harry, Henry Rollins... these are just some of the punk icons who have shown their support for the Woodstock, NY-based band The Bobby Lees. Sam Quartin (vocals, guitar), Macky Bowman (drums), Nick Casa (guitar) and Kendall Wind (bass) – play punk music in spirit and soul, uninhibited and resolutely honest. It's the kind of auditory exorcism any listener can access, which struck a chord with Rollins, leading him to bring them to Ipecac Recordings. A self-produced DIY album, "Beauty Pageant," was released in 2018, catching the attention of garage rock star Jon Spencer, who then produced the band's 2020 album, "Skin Suit." This largely unnoticed but well-received collection of 11 songs allowed the quartet to cut their teeth on international tours. With their intelligent and thoughtful songwriting, The Bobby Lees follow their instincts as musicians and friends, working together to create the songs that will eventually form Bellevue. The sound is gritty, minimalist, and visceral, with each song an ode to the marginalized. "We wrote it while all this crazy (pandemic) stuff was going on and I think it helped us become more open and vulnerable. We're taking more risks and doing weirder things musically than in the past."
