'You want to build walls, we want to feed people \/ You want to hoard your money, we want to spend it all…' sings Ray (in English in the text). From the intro of The Blue Butter Pot's 3rd album, the tone is set. Oliv and Ray scoff at the jewels and glory mentioned in the LP's title. They prefer the authenticity of catchy riffs and the big, fat beat of a drum kit to anything shiny, except perhaps the sweat beading while listening to these 13 tracks. Don't be fooled by the 'Blue' in their name. These possessed musicians don't just play the devil's music, even if it's found in chord progressions or in spirit on many of their tracks. When asked about common influences, Ray and Oliv cite Led Zeppelin. The battered image of that old veteran Seasick Steve also hovers over them. And Jack White is invoked for his seventies vibe and his love of raw sound. The inspiration, like the band's name, is spontaneous. The duo composes in the studio by jamming. The same goes for the lyrics, at the risk of depressing those with writer's block. 'I write everything down in a notebook. I have scraps of phrases in my pockets. This time, they were written to the music, and then we built a story.' And in these times where the horizon has narrowed, it's good to listen to these stories where screen addicts, solitary lumberjacks, speakeasy customers, or a certain Mr. Painkiller cross paths without ever meeting. Born by chance, The Blue Butter Pot is a duo formed by Ray (vocals, guitar) and Oliv (drums). In their opinion, this 3rd album is 'a little more committed and pragmatic than the previous ones.' But that's all that has changed, because fundamentally, they assert: 'We like the old sound with a newer sauce. Absolutely no electro!' With Jim Diamond at the helm, 'Jewels \u0026 Glory' is guaranteed free of synthetic tinkering, but with cowbell here and there, back-and-forths between muscular rock and dirty blues as we like it, incursions into funk or the soundtrack of a Sergio Leone film with Ray and Oliv in the main roles, surrounded by a fine cast of guests. There are anthems to friendship in clandestine dives. Caustic lyrics about a world gone awry. Even downright daring when The Blue Butter Pot proves that you can still say anything in a song, provided you play in the bawdy and double-entendre register of dirty blues. We don't yet know what the world will look like afterward. But we want to have this organic, timeless, and powerful sound, this voice rich like an old whiskey, and these tracks packed with references that The Blue Butter Pot has elegantly made their own, as the soundtrack to our future adventures.\" THE BLUE BUTTER POT CONFIRMS ITS IMPORTANCE IN THE POST DOWNHOME BLUES ROCK MOVEMENT, WITH THIS NEW ALBUM PRODUCED BY JIM DIAMOND. \" --- SOUL BAG ---. \" The Blue Butter Pot marks a garage and rock turn cemented by Jim Diamond's production. \" --- ROCK \u0026 FOLK ---. \" Guttural voice, hypnotic guitar, and basic drum rhythm create a heavy and very garage atmosphere, close to what the late Bottles Rockets did with their explosive alt-country. \" --- BLUES'n'CO ---.","brand":"The Blue Butter Pot","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55310275117400,"sku":null,"price":20210528.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3521381565560_670405f9-1362-46ec-accb-e22ab546b84d.jpg?v=1760318095","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/the-blue-butter-pot_jewels-glory-2-vinyls_2021_lad","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
