The masters of psychedelic rock are back with a fifth album, their first in 4 years. Written and composed largely during the American elections, Death Song is a protest in response to the divisive atmosphere. The first single, 'Currency', clearly reflects this, questioning the impact of the monetary system on our lives. Recorded between Seattle and Austin, Death Song was produced by Phil Ek (Father John Misty, Fleet Foxes, The Shins) who provides the 11 tracks with a sound crafted to enhance their signature sound (menacing fuzz guitars, sharp lyrics). Since their formation in Austin in 2004, The Black Angels have become the best representatives of the modern version of psychedelic rock. They have toured worldwide, and two of the band members co-founded the Levitation Festival (formerly Austin Psych Fest) in 2008. For those who like: The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The 13th Floor Elevators, The Velvet Underground, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Spiritualized.
