After recording their latest album during a sailing voyage across the Atlantic Ocean, the band The Big Idea from La Rochelle are back on dry land to unveil a new, more radical record in early 2024, reflecting their ever more intense live performances with no fewer than six musicians on stage. An extraordinary rock band, without labels, blurring the lines. "Tales of Crematie" is a tale with a medieval and fantastical imagination, but one that could just as easily have taken place in our modern era. While the elegant melodic and psychedelic passages have not disappeared, the album's tone is decidedly more rock than anything the band has ever produced, and since The Big Idea always likes to go over the top, the record will be released as a double album featuring trumpets, pianos, violins, tropicalist influences, post-punk, and above all, lots and lots of fuzz. Like a toy chest whose key has been deliberately thrown away, "Tales of Crematie" is brimming with hidden arrangement treasures, as well as a violent revolt against the modern canons of music that is always too normal.
