Formed in 1996, The Beta Band was from 1997 to 2004 one of the flagship groups of the Regal label (Parlophone Records). Producing pop that is as experimental as it is invigorating, these gifted Scots indeed had the ability to integrate various genres and influences (folk, reggae, rap, rockabilly, electronica, rock..), all with remarkable brilliance. Making an immediate impact with the cult title Dry The Rain, they subsequently gathered many fans through adventurous EPs (collected on the compilation The Three E.P.'s) and brilliant albums (The Beta Band (1999), Hot Shots II (2001) and Heroes To Zeros (2004). Featuring 6 CDs, this box set The Regal Years (1997 - 2004) today contains all these references, but also has the merit of offering many unreleased tracks (demos, live versions, remixes, and BBC radio sessions). A true goldmine for fans of this groundbreaking group, as unique as it is seminal.
