These recordings (also known as the "Decca Sessions" or "Decca Auditions") were made to introduce The Beatles to Decca Records, who rejected them. The Beatles' former manager, Epstein, selected the repertoire, consisting of 12 covers and 3 original compositions. Dick Rowe, then CEO of Decca Records, was not convinced by the quality and choice of the songs and ended up signing Brian Poole & The Tremeloes, a London-based band.
