The multi-million selling Alan Parsons Project album Ammonia Avenue is being re-released in 3 different formats, including a CD edition with 4 unreleased tracks, a vinyl edition with a half-speed master, and an audiophile 2LP heavyweight 45 rpm Maxi edition. The first edition comes with a numbered Obi strip. It was carefully mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios in May 2025 on a custom-built Neumann VMS 80 half-speed cutting lathe, from a 1:1 archival transfer of the original SONY 1610 digital master tape recorded in 1984.
Ammonia Avenue focuses on possible misunderstandings regarding industrial scientific developments from the public's point of view and the lack of public understanding from the scientific point of view. It was a worldwide success, reaching platinum and gold status in many countries.
As with other Alan Parsons Project albums, several lead vocalists were enlisted, including Chris Rainbow, Colin Blunstone, Lenny Zakatek, and Eric Woolfson himself. This is complemented by a selection of studio musicians such as guitarists Ian Bairnson and David Paton and drummer Stuart Elliott, with arrangements by Andrew Powell.
