{"product_id":"th-da-freak_freakenstein_2019_mdl","title":"Freakenstein","description":"For a good year now, young Bordeaux native Thoineau Palis has been quietly but surely establishing himself at the forefront of the French independent scene. Regularly labeled a \"slacker\" by the press, in reference to his obvious obsession with the relaxed guitars of Pavement, Superchunk, Sebadoh, and other figures of a fantasized 90s indie rock (Palis was born in 1993), there is nevertheless little laziness in his approach; just a certain form of nonchalance in the way he effortlessly strings together albums, without too much consideration for the usual M.O. of record labels. In just over a year: two albums, two EPs, and a brand new double album of B-sides, all praised by a specialized press that quickly became fond of the prolific young \"freak.\" With each release, he refines the contours of a rich universe, where reminiscences of the solitary and avant-garde pop of R. Stevie Moore rub shoulders with fuzz bursts typical of Californian garage rock or explorations of sound textures reminiscent of dream pop. And on stage, as a five-piece, the band casually injects dynamite into the framework of their songs to offer a boosted reinterpretation that systematically hits the mark and very early on opens the doors to several festivals for them. This brings us to Freakenstein, his third album inspired by the Bordeaux native's fascination with classic horror cinema and the famous creature. Recorded and mixed for the first time with the band that has accompanied Palis since his beginnings, composed of tracks written over the last 3 years and religiously put aside, the result of a much longer and more painful gestation than usual, this album has the appearance of a definitive, manifest record, far from the sometimes still timid experimentations of his beginnings. Like the creature, Freakenstein recycles dead flesh to create something new. The album shines above all through its incisive, catchy, always accurate titles, and easily transcends genre labels. Freakenstein is, in short, the perfect synthesis of the universe of a UFO of the French musical landscape, and the ideal business card for those who discover him today.","brand":"TH da Freak","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55311897723224,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3700604720751.jpg?v=1760405779","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/th-da-freak_freakenstein_2019_mdl","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
