Blood Hot/Gatefold Gold Vinyl 10th Anniversary

Description

Tess made an impression on industry legend Alan McGee, founder of Creation Records, but the timing of their meeting couldn't have been less ideal: McGee was no longer involved in music and Tess had to return to Toronto. After returning to her hometown in 2012, Tess formed a band on McGee's advice, and less than a year after their meeting, he returned to music with his new label, 359 Music. Tess became one of his first signings and released her debut album, "Blood Hot," in November 2013, to excellent reviews. One critic described her as "Patti Smith on Quaaludes." Others mentioned her "hazy psychedelic sound" and "scorching voice." Alan McGee himself stated: "She’s only 24 and already a formidable songwriter... she doesn’t quite know it yet... her greatest quality is her lack of ego. Tess is an extraordinary woman." "Blood Hot" is of unmatched confidence. It is slow and psychedelic at times, while being loud and ready to fill a stadium at other moments. There isn't a single moment on the album that isn't narratable or that doesn't sound like a timeless classic that will be talked about for years (just as we talk today about the records of the Velvet Underground or My Bloody Valentine).
