TEMIC is only on their debut album, but its musicians are not exactly newcomers: after honing their skills with Devin Townsend, Mike Portnoy's Shattered Fortress, Neal Morse, Shining, and Maraton, it was in 2020, when the world stopped, that keyboardist Diego Tejedia and guitarist Eric Gillette decided to form a band.
Their idea was not exactly simple: to orchestrate their love for electronic music and super catchy melodies to create a modern prog-metal band. Thanks to the addition of vocalist Fredrik Bergersen Klemp and Simen Sandnes on drums, TEMIC managed to bring their vision to life.
'Terror Management Theory' is full of twists and turns. "Count Your Losses" delivers technical riffs by the ton, while "Falling Away" drifts into a black hole lined with keyboard layers. At the end of this labyrinthine album is "Mothalah", a seven-minute epic that constantly soars skyward, led by a heroic falsetto.
A fascinating debut album of unfathomable richness.
