Continuing from The Brightest Void, released a few weeks ago, The Shadow Self starts off with a bang with "Innocence," a powerful and catchy track, a true anthem in the making. The extended version of the single "No Bitter Ends" features the song enhanced by an almost prog instrumental segment, while with the cover of "Supremacy" by Muse, Tarja offers a more atmospheric side. The Finnish diva does not forget Metal, as seen in the duet with Alissa White-Gluz, singer of the band Arch Enemy. With The Shadow Self, her heaviest but also most varied and inventive album, Tarja proves once again that her talent knows no bounds.
