"Machu Picchu" is one of Tangerine Dream’s most intimate projects – it was never intended for release during the composition and recording process. It is a homage to John Peel, a man who, like no other in the business, remotely “created” TD's career many years ago by believing in their extraordinary talent and skills.
The story and atmospheric influence of this 42-minute one-track composition emerged after the death of this music-loving and long-time progressive BBC pioneer in October 2004, in the city of Cusco (Peru), close to the sacred Inca site of Machu Picchu.
