This 10th album (the first since the highly acclaimed Fading West in 2014) was produced in collaboration with John Fields, who had produced The Beautiful Letdown, the platinum-selling album by Switchfoot in the United States. This new album marks an important milestone in the band's successful career. The adventure began in 1997 with the first of three albums released independently before their signing to a major label in 2003. Since then, the San Diego-based team in California has sold 5.7 million albums worldwide (including ''The Beautiful Letdown'' in 2003 and ''Hello Hurricane'', which earned them a Grammy in 2009). ''Where The Light Shines Through'' marks a return for the band to the independent scene and proves that, nearly 20 years after the start of their career, they are capable of having a career that combines experience, youth, and longevity.
