This extraordinary album unveils previously unreleased recordings from the year 1986 for the first time, presenting a unique chapter of Sun Ra's catalog, officially released for Record Store Day 2024. Conceived by Bill Sebastian, avant-garde technology innovator and rocket specialist, in the mid-1970s, the OuterSpace Visual Communicator (OVC) is a revolutionary invention. Instead of producing traditional sound, this keyboard-triggered "instrument" harnesses the power of light, projecting multicolored kaleidoscopic patterns onto a screen suspended above the artists on stage. Ra first performed with this idiosyncratic fractal light projector in the late 1970s, and in 1986, two grainy VHS tapes surfaced, showing Ra interpreting "Calling Planet Earth" and "Sunset On The Nile", both accompanied by the radiant light painting of the OVC. Sun Ra "Inside The Light World" is released as a double LP in a deluxe sleeve. The set includes photos from the original OVC videos, detailed liner notes, and a complete interview with Bill Sebastian. The album has been fully remastered from the original tapes by Joe Lizzi and Peter Beckmann.
