In the early 80s when Suicidal Tendencies was starting out, punk rock itself was not kind to new ideas, especially when they came from a band that clearly seemed unconcerned with fitting in. Suicidal Tendencies was not there to be accepted and blindly follow the herd. Not only did the Venice, California band create its own style of cyco punk, but it also took the DIY attitude to a new level with a look and sound never seen or heard before. For 35 years, the band did not care once about trends, what was cool, or what other bands were doing. The Californians did what they wanted without asking for permission, without worrying about who it might shock, without seeking to be liked. They played the music as they felt it, and it was not without consequences. They were banned from playing in Los Angeles and were harassed by many authority figures, including the Secret Service, who came to visit singer Mike Muir. Shortly after, the Parents Music Resource Center also got involved. The PMRC is an American lobbying group created in 1985 to denounce references to sex, violence, satanism, alcohol, and drugs in music, and it would impose the Parental Advisory Explicit Content label. They were not the only ones targeting the band, as their music became the soundtrack for punks, thrashers, metalheads, skaters, surfers, and bikers around the world. A true cyco punk army more alive than ever! This new album comes out 35 years after their self-titled debut and 25 years after Still Cyco After All These Years.
