Description

It is with this faith that renewal arises from accidents, from the chaos of encounters that Yann Tambour and his band Stranded Horse thrive on. Together, they strive to bypass conventions and labels, to blend genres, customs, and traditions into an album of wanderings, dance, and trance, at a time when wary and timid walls are rising everywhere. But a strange spell has fallen upon the hindered horse: how to take its first dance steps when one can no longer dance. - - We won't be talking about a lockdown album here; quite the opposite, as this new album was conceived before COVID and its ilk invaded our realities and vocabularies. "It's a post-visionary album," Yann and Sébastien, the percussionist, joke, "an album that predicts the past." And for good reason, since it is indeed an apocalypse that is at stake in this "Grand Rodeo": the one everyone saw coming. An apocalypse in the face of which our rider holds the reins as best he can to avoid falling, as powerless as each of us, cut short in his momentum, having no other choice but to unleash himself alone in a frenzied trance or on a "Rumba of Demise." Strangely attired, a bit hesitantly, like an indie Don Quixote trying to slay windmills with endearing fervor... Yes, the catastrophe is here, around, in front, everywhere, but never mind, this "Grand Rodeo" will at least be an occasion for joyful sharing.
