They nonetheless gained new fans when their cover of \"The Only Way Is Up\" surpassed 2 million streams after being synced in an advert and various TV shows. Nevertheless, singer\/guitarist Brian Briggs and his bandmates Jon Ouin (keyboards) and Oli Steadman (bass) stayed in touch, and little by little, they reconnected with the love of making music that had driven them to form the band. With Brian writing in a makeshift studio on a secluded coastal hillside and Jon cooking up a series of ideas on his end, a wholly unexpected fourth Stornoway album eventually came to fruition: \"Dig The Mountain!\" The three members of the trio contributed to the recording from their own residences: Brian in southwest Wales, Oli in southeast London, and Jon from Oxford, with Mike Lindsay producing. Oli's brother, Rob (drums), is not part of this new chapter for Stornoway, having started a new life in America. Mike Monaghan (Gaz Coombes, Saint Etienne) thus provides drums throughout the album. The album is full of inspiring collaborations. Sam Lee appears on the winding, woody folk-funk track \"The Navigator\"; Chinese musician Yijia Tu contributes beautiful vocals to the rootsy cover of Bjork's \"It's Not Up To You\"; Guillemot Fyfe Dangerfield sings on \"Anwen\"; former Black Mountains poet Paul Henry wrote the lyrics for \"Kicking The Stone\"; and Gareth Bonello (The Gentle Good) wrote the original version of \"The Fisherman\" before it was reimagined by Stornoway.","brand":"Stornoway","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55388350316888,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/0711297539110.jpg?v=1760391159","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/stornoway_dig-the-mountain_2023_wag","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
