Multi-instrumentalist and producer Steven Wilson, founding member of Porcupine Tree, presents his interim album 4½ (2016) on Transmission for the first time. Featuring bright guitars on "My Book Of Regrets," upbeat tracks like "Happiness III," and atmospheric instrumentals such as "Year Of The Plague," the album also explores heavier sounds on "Vermillioncore" and an introspective reinterpretation of the classic Porcupine Tree track "Don't Hate Me" with Ninet Tayeb. Produced and mixed by Wilson, the album brings together a host of virtuoso musicians: Adam Holzman, Nick Beggs, Guthrie Govan, Dave Kilminster, Marco Minnemann, Chad Wackerman, Craig Blundell, and Theo Travis. The artwork, by Carl Glover and photographed by Lasse Hoile, completes this hybrid work, halfway between progressive experimentation and raw emotion.
