'EjectÃĐs,' which over time became Steff Tej & EjectÃĐs, is the biggest French punk band influenced by Jamaican music. They have been active for nearly 35 years and have performed over 2500 concerts worldwide. They've played to packed houses in Western and Eastern Europe and had significant tours in the United States, Canada, and even Tunisia. In their early days, the band shared the stage with all the alternative bands of the 80s, from Parabellum to La Mano and Babylon Fighters, before playing with Rita Marley and The Specials. Influenced by The Clash, Bob Marley, and the 2-Tone movement, Steff Tej formed EjectÃĐs in 1988 in Limoges. The band began to fill venues and released their first album in 1990: 'Glauque City Tej.' After 19 albums, live DVDs (including one in tribute to The Clash), and fruitful collaborations with Mad Professor and Dennis Morris, the band offers us two compilations featuring their best tracks: 'Since 88,' volumes 1 and 2. They highlight all the colors of the generous musical palette composed by the combo. Because EjectÃĐs, inventors of 'Rocskaroots,' quickly infused their ska-punk with other musical components over their albums: hip-hop, reggae, rocksteady, soul, Latin rhythms, and even French chanson. Whether as a large ensemble or a trio, Steff Tej has always managed to captivate audiences with catchy melodies and finely crafted French lyrics, speaking of love, solidarity, sharing, ecology, the fight against racism, and above all, pointing out – or rather, mic-pointing – the injustices of this world created by excessive capitalism and globalization. Considered by HM (Rock n'folk) as one of the best examples of successful reggae transposition into French, Steff Tej & EjectÃĐs still have some good surprises in store for us as a new album is in preparation...
