She is beautiful, unlike anything or anyone, and her first album, "Raoui," rightfully made a splash in 2001. Shortly after, a real tour of 200 dates took her to the stage of the Olympia and then into the studio with Marc Lavoine for a duet, Paris, still on everyone's lips. Between 60's folk (one inevitably thinks of Joan Baez), muted rock, and Arab-Andalusian fragrances, Souad Massi evolves outside of fundamentalist paths with tact and delicacy, pushing her clear and fertile melodies above modest acoustic arrangements in form but particularly determined. Le Bien le Mal, Moudja, Passe le temps, and Ya Kelbi stand out slightly from this beautiful ensemble, which owes its success primarily to Souad's voice, a colorful organ of exemplary purity.
