"Dépaysé is the story of the initiatory journey of an immigrant during the Trump era." AHMED GALLAB / SINKANE Since his very first album in 2009, the American-Sudanese AHMED GALLAB and his band SINKANE have always strived to mix genres and ignore borders, drawing influences from US Soul, psychedelic music, and of course African music. From CURTIS MAYFIELD to FUNKADELIC, including Sudanese jazz, AHMED GALLAB confirms with Dépaysé (in French in the text) that he is indeed one of the most talented and versatile musicians of his generation. He has earned the respect of legends of African music such as MULATU ASTATKE (who invited him on stage) and WILLIAM ONYEABOR (he led tribute concerts for the Nigerian) as well as jazz musicians (PHAROAH SANDERS) and Western bands (CARIBOU, DAMON ALBARN, HOT CHIP, etc...)
