Le 19 septembre 1981 le duo Simon & Garfunkel donne un concert gratuit en plein New York à Central Park.Ce concert réunira plus d'un demi-million de personnes là où les organisateurs en attendaient 300 000 !Ce concert mythique sort l'année suivante le 16 février 1982 en support double vinyle (l'apparition du CD se fera à la fin de cette même année), et sera disque de diamant en France avec plus d'un million d'exemplaires quelques années après sa sortie.Ce live comporte les tubes incontournables de ce duo des seventies tels « Mrs Robinson », « The Sound of Silence » ou bien encore « The Boxer ».
