"Tonada de Luna Llena" is a famous song by Venezuelan folk singer/songwriter Simón Díaz that speaks to the serene beauty of the full moon. This spiritual anthem, embedded in Venezuelan DNA, is finally being re-released on a 10-inch vinyl, accompanied by the deep bass and slow techno touches of PabloSánchez and Alexi Delano under their production moniker Basic Need. This release was made with the approval of the family of Simón Díaz, who was a legendary Venezuelan folk singer, author, composer, comedian, and actor, among other things, whose career spanned over 50 years. Also known as 'Uncle Simón', Díaz had a great influence on the revitalization of traditional music from the llanos, the Venezuelan plains, and received numerous awards and honors, including a Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and the "Grand Cordon of the Order of the Liberator," Venezuela's highest distinction. Pablo Sánchez is a DJ and producer from Caracas; Alexi Delano is a Chilean-Swedish electronic music artist known for his unique techno sound. Both musicians are currently based in Brooklyn, New York, and collaborate under the name Basic Need.
