LE JOUR DES VERMEILLES

Description

The title is a double reference to Louis Aragon's poetry and Camille Jourdy's comic strip "Les Vermeilles." For many reasons, this title speaks of Simon, of what he has experienced in recent years, and of the people around him. It is his way of telling his story "instrumentally," of revealing himself while remaining modest. It is a folk, jazz-world album, with Afro-Latin and pop influences. The music was played and recorded live, without electronic additions, by experienced musicians with diverse influences and origins. Furthermore, the Cuban virtuoso Alejandro Falcón honors Simon by appearing on 3 tracks. The songs are acoustic, melodious, and gentle, aiming to create demanding yet pleasant and popular music.
