{"product_id":"shitty-person_judgement_2026_disco-soundworks-season-of-mist","title":"Judgement","description":"Discover ''Judgement'' by Shitty Person, a captivating album that falls within the progressive rock style. Available in CD format, this release under the Svart Records label promises an immersive and emotionally rich musical experience. Shitty Person is the latest solo project (or almost) of Benjamin Thomas-Kennedy (Lesbian, Fungal Abyss). With other members of Lesbian, Rose Windows, and Master Musicians of Bukkake, Shitty Person composes music that explores self-hatred and counterproductive introspection. Expect a psychedelic sound, raw language, and a sense of unease. Although relatively recent, Shitty Person draws its roots from a deep repertoire. \"I've been playing drums in metal bands for nearly twenty years,\" explains Thomas-Kennedy, \"but before that, I was the lead singer and guitarist of two less heavy bands. While touring with Lesbian, I had lots of songs in my head, without knowing what to do with them. With the gradual end of that project, I had more time to clarify these ideas. I bought a guitar and finalized several pieces. I then asked some of my favorite musicians if they would help me form a band, and to my great surprise, everyone I contacted agreed. We played sold-out shows opening for Moon Duo in Seattle. It was the first time in over fifteen years that I played guitar and sang in front of an audience. The concert went pretty well, so we recorded this album. I am extremely proud of it and honored that so many talented musicians took part in its creation.\" Indeed, Judgement is full of talent, an explosive mix of \"desperate and heroic rock,\" as Thomas-Kennedy describes it, which \"explores the raw pleasure of destroying everything. It's dark and hateful. It has an apathetic tone typical of the 90s, maybe because I hadn't written a song since that time. I think that makes the nostalgic aspect relatively pure. We worked hard to find the balance between chaos and melodic and structural coherence. We were very careful not to care too much. I wanted to make the best album I've ever made, but I also wanted it to sound like we were at the end of our rope, like we hated ourselves and it felt good. I like to think we succeeded.\" And they succeed with a casual, even provocative style. Thomas-Kennedy, detailing the main influences of Shitty Person, explains: \"I was really into Spacemen 3 and the early Monster Magnet albums when I composed this. I was fascinated by the despair and self-hatred that these records express, both musically and in their lyrics. I've always loved music about drugs. I was also studying religious trauma syndrome and how leaving fundamentalist evangelical Christianity causes symptoms similar to PTSD. I come from a long line of preachers and I am deeply outraged by how Christianity destroys children by teaching them to hate themselves. Shitty Person is about identifying those lies and rejecting them. It's also about taking one last ride with them. Hating yourself feels a lot like the way Spacemen 3 talks about heroin: it's exhilarating, but it ends up destroying you and all your relationships with others.\"","brand":"Shitty Person","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57489933599064,"sku":null,"price":20260424.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/shitty-person_judgement_2026_disco-soundworks-season-of-mist","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
