After several years of intense world tours, the post-punk duo She Past Away returned to the studio. The enchanting single "Inziva," released in 2024, sparked anticipation for the next chapter of their musical journey. "Mizantrop," the long-awaited seven-track EP, invites solitary and introspective listening. She Past Away retains their characteristic atmospheric and melancholic post-punk style, driven by a powerful and precise bass. The dark music and lyrics steeped in Turkish nostalgia of "Mizantrop" explore the darkest aspects of the human condition. The contemplative opening track, "Içimdeki Düsman," and the more energetic title track establish an atmosphere of introversion and reflection. The following tracks, "Sessiz Orman," "Kaygan Kayaliklar," and "Kuyu Mezar," translate respectively to "Silent Forest," "Slippery Cliffs," and "Stone Tomb," all evocative places of isolation and solitude, places where one retreats to recharge. Inziva is the voluntary refuge. Like She Past Away's previous albums, Belirdi Gece (2012) and Narin Yalnizli (2015), Mizantrop concludes with the instrumental track Içe Kapanis III, the most hopeful ending in the series.
