Sharpie Smile's debut album asks one question: Is your heart good enough to climb The Staircase? Sharpie Smile is the duo born from the 2015 meeting of two anti-conformist, musically gifted teenagers: Dylan Hadley and Cole Berliner. The Staircase is a lush, energizing contemporary pop record, blending an ambitious gradient of minimal/maximal electronic production with profound feelings. It's a dreamy, ethereal journey through the unknown, on a radiant melodic raft. One track at a time, Sharpie Smile deconstructs and reconstructs reality through essential questions. This album is made of sensual breaths, as Dylan's blue vocal melodies drift through a luminous desert of synth strokes, guitars, and percussive rhythms, cutting through the melancholic middle of neo-romantic pop into a sharp new relief. Inspired by SOPHIE, 100 gecs, Oklou, and other futuristic artists, the duo lets the desire for discovery unleash their evolution. The Staircase was conceived and produced by Cesar Maria, with the help of Spencer Hartling, Cairo Marques-Neto, and Mikey Weiland.
