Tramp or the instability of a nomadic life. During the recording (spread over 14 months), Sharon Van Etten stayed with friends, scattering her belongings here and there, according to her temporary accommodations, with her only regular haunt being Aaron Dessner's recording studio from The National. From this nomadic life, Sharon Van Etten emerges stronger today, signing a more assertive and arranged album here. If her first album, Because I Was In Love released in 2010, was a collection of intimate guitar-voice songs, with Tramp, Sharon Van Etten takes a more rock turn, while remaining minimalist, inviting Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak), Julianna Barwick, Zack Condon (Beirut), Aaron Dessner (The National), and Matt Barrick (The Walkmen) to collaborate on a few tracks.
