Psychedelic group UMO, led by the genius Ruban Nielson, is back with a fourth album! The follow-up to the critically acclaimed Multi-Love sees UMO mastermind Ruban Nielson venturing into territory both familiar and unexpected. The delightfully shifting album highlights major themes: consumption, evolution, affection, etc. Through a sonic lens, the album is driven by a shattering and definitively Funk drum machine, apocalyptic rock, and pink-tinged Disco. Yet it is not a dark record; even the album title, Sex & Food, focuses on two of life's most undeniably enjoyable experiences: it is the notion of positivity that is represented here, and that in the strange context of our time. The album was recorded in a variety of locations, from Seoul to Hanoi, Reykjavik, Mexico, and Auckland, not forgetting Nielson's studio in Portland. It is somewhat of a musical travel diary, spanning the globe.
