Miles Davis invited Airto Moreira to join his new 'electric' band, Dom Um Romao (who was part of Sérgio Mendes' legendary Brazil 66 in the 60s) joined the fusion band Weather Report, Flora Purim and Airto were both part of Chick Corea's new Light As A Feather project, Wayne Shorter collaborated with Milton Nascimento, George Duke recorded Brazilian Love Affair, etc. Thanks to all the attention these great jazz artists paid to Brazilian musicians - Airto Moreira, Flora Purim, Sérgio Mendes, Luiz Bonfá, Eumir Deodato, João Donato and many others - North America became their new musical playground, where they were free from all constraints, both musical and political. This collection brings together some of the most beautiful works from that era, and is complemented by detailed notes that explain the journey these musicians took from Brazil to the United States. They show the political and musical ties between the two countries that created the conditions for the unique fusion of these two cultures in the 1970s.","brand":"Sérgio Mendes","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55304283652440,"sku":null,"price":20190621.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/5026328004280_fa83c103-3d79-435d-957f-fecf5672a667.jpg?v=1769713215","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/sergio-mendes_soul-jazz-records-presents-brazil-usa-brazilian-music-in-the-usa-in-the-1970s_2019_pia","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
