Thirty-five years after the first Gypsy Guitars, which marked the revival of gypsy jazz in the early 90s, the three protagonists of the original trio reunite, rekindling the explosive cocktail of swing and gypsy music that made the first volume a success. Gypsy Guitars 2: The Sequel to an Unmissable Masterpiece After 35 years of an exceptional career, Angelo Debarre returns with Gypsy Guitars 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the cult album from 1989. Accompanied by Serge Camps on guitar and Frank Anastasio on double bass, this new opus blends gypsy repertoire and swing standards, just like the first album. The album features one-third tracks from Russian and Hungarian folklore (Babouchka, Souvenirs de Toronto) and two-thirds swing compositions, including pieces by Angelo Debarre such as Manège, a handful of standards (Claude Bolling's Cousin Django from the soundtrack of the film "Le Gitan"), not to mention inevitable nods to the world of Django Reinhardt (The Sheik of Araby, Charleston). The interpretation will prioritize the trio's great cohesion as well as the acoustic purity of the instrumentation, highlighting the mastery of the idiom and the great melodic expressiveness of the soloists, particularly that of the leader. The ambition of this project, which undeniably appears to be one of maturity, is to deliver, echoing the reference album of 1989, a new unforgettable page of gypsy music.
