Description

For the 30th anniversary of Seal's second album, reissued in Deluxe 2CD+Blu-ray edition (and also on double black vinyl Deluxe). These editions feature the original album remastered in 2024, which includes tracks such as 'Kiss From A Rose', 'Prayer For The Dying', 'Newborn Friend', 'Bring It On'. Also present is the B-side "Blues In E", a cover of "Fly Like An Eagle" by the Steve Miller Band taken from the 'Space Jam' soundtrack, and a version of "Manic Depression" with Jeff Beck as a tribute to Jimi Hendrix.Also on CD2 of the 3CD set, 16 tracks including 10 previously unreleased recordings, among which are alternative versions of "Newborn Friend", "Don't Cry", "Dreaming In Metaphors". The Blu-ray in this edition offers Dolby Atmos and PCM 24/96 High Resolution Stereo mixes of the album.The reissue comprising 3 discs includes a remastered version of the album on CD 1 and a collection of previously unreleased recordings and rarities on CD 2.The rarities include the previously unreleased song "Reality"; the B-side "Blues In E"; Seal's cover of "Fly Like An Eagle" by the Steve Miller Band, a version of "Manic Depression" that Seal recorded with Jeff Beck for Stone Free: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix; and "Love Is Power", a Japan-only single produced by Nick Launay in 1993.Warner Records takes a different approach with this deluxe set compared to the 2022 reissue of Seal's first album. There is no vinyl included this time (even though a 2LP set is available separately), it is not oversized, and therefore much cheaper, but above all the Blu-ray includes a Dolby Atmos Mix of the album, as well as a 96/24 High Resolution Stereo version. The Atmos Mix engineer is Alex McArthur, although he did not do "Kiss From A Rose", which was done by Trevor Horn's engineer, Tim Weidner. This suggests that "Kiss..." had already been done independently, at an earlier date, for streaming. They chose not to include any video or the 5.1 mix that was on the 2005 US CD+DVD reissue.
