Description

The repertoire of this album consists of polyphonic arrangements of the Tenebrae Responsories by Tomás Luis de Victoria, taken from the cycle Officium Hebdomadae Sanctae, and selected compositions of Gregorian chant. The authors (Karolina Mika and Piotr Zawistowski) drew from a repertoire specific to the liturgy of Holy Week, whose texts powerfully express the drama of the last days and last hours of the earthly life of Jesus Christ. The compositions gathered on this album invite contemplation of the mystery of the successive stations of the Way of the Cross, where words are complemented by sound art, between liturgical monody and vocal polyphony, thus further emphasizing the essence of the transformation that takes place within the human experience of the sacred.
