PRODUCED BY RENAUD LETANG, MOCKY & RORY McCARTHYSchérazade has chosen to create a certain kind of French pop that crosses paths with great American producer-craftsmen. Asile Exquis, her first album, is Françoise Hardy sitting on Jacno's shoulders, walking down the path opened by Lee Hazlewood or Joe Meek. On one side, plumes of smoke wafting through the room, on the other, a neo-Rohmerian atmosphere that welcomes questions and combinations. Discovered in the circle of Stromae and Thomas Azier, with whom she has collaborated, Schérazade gracefully and determinedly carves her own path. For Asile Exquis, she chose to work with Renaud Letang (Manu Chao, Gonzales and Katerine), Mocky and Rory McCarthy to capture her universe, as unsettling as it is elegant, on disc; a voice that immediately grabs and teases, instruments that resonate, and atmospheres that are both murky and delightful.
